ABOUT US

Christian Union Gloria

Christian Union Gloria partners with and resources Harvard College Faith and Action (HCFA), an independent student organization that began in 2009.

Vision and Mission

Christian Union seeks a spiritually vibrant nation marked by Christian values permeating every corner of society.

Its mission at Harvard, to develop and connect transformative Christian leaders, is carried out in a variety of ways. Christian Union faculty members mentor students and lead challenging, academically oriented Bible courses designed to help students find or strengthen their faith and to become students of the scriptures who are able to “rightly handle the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). HCFA is entirely student-led, and hosts conferences, a weekly leadership lecture series (DOXA), and numerous events to share the love of Christ at Harvard.

Our Name

Harvard’s motto has an interesting history. For nearly two hundred years, beginning in 1650, In Christi Gloriam, a Latin phrase meaning “For the glory of Christ”, marked the college's seal. Veritas eventually was discovered in old college records by Harvard President Josiah Quincy III and re-emerged in 1836. Christian Union Gloria is so named to remember the original intentions of Harvard’s founders, namely to live lives that glorify God.
